Schneider Electric Poised for Smart Factory Growth in Japan

Tokyo (Japan), August 7, 2017 - Schneider Electric, the global specialist in energy management and automation, today announced its commitment to the industry market in Japan.

In order to further strengthen its factory automation business in Japan, Schneider Electric has established a new, dedicated Industry division. It has also added Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), starting with the Modicon series, to its product portfolio, which were made available in Japan for the first time, on July 3. On July 4, the company also announced EcoStruxure Augmented Operator Advisor, a solution for optimizing maintenance services and reducing human error at production sites that utilize Augmented Reality technologies. Going forward, Schneider Electric will expand its product line-up such as inverters and drives, and provide machine solutions that reduce the time and costs required by specialized teams to establish machine control systems.

Digital Electronics, which markets its HMI products under the Pro-face by Schneider Electric brand and a Schneider Electric group company since 2002, will be merged into Schneider Electric Japan Holdings Ltd. on September 1, 2017. This is also part of Schneider's efforts to strengthen its industry business. Pro-face by SE however, will continue as the HMI specialist brand providing a variety of, HMI products and expanding the portfolio. It will continue to support its extensive local customer-base and champion industry leading technology. The brand will be given an international boost leveraging Schneider's global Sales and partner network

With new focus on Industry business and by expanding the portfolio with new products and solutions, Schneider Electric will integrate IT and OT (Operation Technologies) at production sites, and thereby provide products and services that contribute to the realization of smart factories in Japan.
